Denny's Mobile Relief Diner headed to North Carolina

Residents of North Carolina already have enough to deal with in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence. The evacuations and flooding make accomplishing normal daily activities — like eating — almost impossible.

Denny’s is trying to ease that burden a bit by mobilizing its Mobile Relief Diner — literally a semi tractor-trailer with a full Denny’s restaurant in the back. The Mobile Relief Diner is headed to the state to help feed those affected by the hurricanes.

What is the Denny’s Mobile Relief Diner?

“The initial concept of the Mobile Relief Diner was created to serve as a quick, but temporary solution that we could get on the road in a timely manner,” John Dillon, chief marketing officer for Denny’s, said in a statement. The first meals from the Mobile Relief Diner were served in 2017 during both Hurricane Harvey in Houston and Hurricane Irma in South Florida.

“Over the course of two weeks, we were able to serve over 14,000 meals and seeing the impact that we had in those communities made us realize that the Mobile Relief Diner is the perfect embodiment of our brand,” he continued. “After retiring our truck last fall, we immediately began planning on how to make a better — and permanent — version of the Mobile Relief Diner to help as many people as we can.”

The truck was also dispatched to California to feed those affected by the devastating wildfires that ravaged the area during summer 2018.
