If KFC’s popular Double Down wasn’t enough for you, the fried chicken chain has a new gut buster to try out. The KFC Double Crispy Colonel is now available at restaurants nationwide.
Better bring your appetite for this one.
What is the KFC Double Crispy Colonel?
Kentucky Fried Chicken calls its Double Crispy Colonel an “over-the-top, oversized eating innovation” made with two extra crispy hand battered fillets — yes, two — with mayo and pickles between two soft buns. You get your choice of four flavors for your fried chicken fillets: Smoky Mountain BBQ, spicy, smoky Nashville Hot and sweet and tangy Georgia Gold honey mustard BBQ.
“We launched the Crispy Colonel Sandwich a few months ago and we believe it is the best chicken sandwich in the market. Burger places have been selling double burgers for years, but nobody has really had a chicken sandwich like this — worthy of doubling up on — so we decided to change the extra crispy fried chicken game by creating the Double Crispy Colonel,” KFC said in a press release.
“You’re going to need both hands for this one!”
That’s an understatement. Unless you have an abnormally large mouth, you’re going to need a knife and fork to break this one down into bite-sized chunks.
And if that wasn’t enough, you can also get the KFC Double Crispy Colonel in a combo meal with wedges and a drink.
Vegan food at KFC? It might be coming
While the focus of KFC is — and will likely always be — chicken, a Reddit user uploaded a photo of a Vietnamese KFC offering vegan options.
KFC is apparently planning to test vegan items in the United Kingdom in 2019, so success there could mean vegan food at KFC in the not-too-distant future.
