Who hasn't spent an excruciating couple of minutes stuck on the phone with a customer service representative who just won't stop trying to upsell? Former Engadget editor Ryan Block was having such a difficult time canceling his Comcast service that he started recording the call, which, believe it or not, he only started doing after about ten minutes (meaning this call was even longer than it appears). As Block explains, he was actually the second person to talk to Comcast. His wife had made the call initially, but, "The representative (name redacted) continued aggressively repeating his questions, despite the answers given, to the point where my wife became so visibly upset she handed me the phone. Overhearing the conversation, I knew this would not be very fun."
Listen to the full EIGHT MINUTE recording if you dare, and relive all those wonderful times a company just wouldn't let you quit them. Comcast, naturally, apologized once the recording started making the rounds earlier today, saying they were "very embarrassed."
