High octane glamour at Paris Fashion Week

Saint Laurent - Runway RTW - Fall 2014 - Paris Fashion Week
If you’ve had a peruse through the street style galleries this season, you’ll have seen a lot of women shrouded mannish, unstructured coats that flop around somewhere near the ankles. But this won’t be the case next fall: glamorous outerwear is back in all its shaggy decadence.

Designers are experimenting with new textures and swirled together shades. Céline, a house known for its minimalism under Phoebe Philo, is quietly tapping the trend with camel hued coats, riddled with threads to give the impression of fur. Chloé, a brand with a similar MO, went even further with its leopard printed coat, flecked through with flashes of crimson, mandarin and black. Saint Laurent followed suit with the kind of furs made to be worn with heavy black boots and ripped tights. There’s a fur, real or fake, for every kind of woman — prepare for the High Street invasion. — KIT GILBERT
