Post-holiday debauchery, our eating habits switch gears from Prosecco, chocolate, pie and sugar cookies to kale, quinoa and green juices. But our diets aren’t the only thing that need a little detoxing — the party lifestyle causes havoc on our skin, too. To repair our complexion, celebrity facialist Joanna Vargas recommends this easy-to-make home remedy using ruby red grapefruits and oatmeal.
“This treatment is loaded with antioxidants — the grapefruit helps purge toxins and oatmeal will calm inflammation caused after a night of drinking and prevent breakouts,” says Vargas. “The milk is dual purpose — it exfoliates with lactic acid and it’s also soothing for the skin cells.”
Recipe for Post-Holiday Detox Mask:
1 mashed ruby red grapefruit
1 cup cooked, cooled oatmeal
1 cup milk
Mix in a small bowl. Apply and leave on skin for 15 minutes, then rinse.
