I judge a hotel based on whether I want to live in it forever. So as
developers continue with the hotel/condo formula and pair it with
uber-luxurious concierge services, the notion becomes less a fantasy
and more a lifestyle choice. Well, lifestyle choice for those with a
certain budget.

JD Carlisle Development Corp’s latest project,
Beatrice, isn’t a combo, but rather a full-service luxury rental tower
which happens to exist on top of the developers’ other new project:
Chelsea’s Kimpton-managed Eventi Hotel. Though there is no relationship
between Eventi and Beatrice, residents enjoy full-time doormen and
full-service concierge. Beatrice commands the top 30 floors of the
building and takes on 301 units. Its entrance is on 29th Street — separate from the hotel’s Sixth Avenue entry. “We got 29th Street for
those still uncomfortable living way up in the 30s,” says
Citi-Habitats’ Clifford Finn. (Citi-Habitats is handling the property.)
