For the house’s spring show, Louis Vuitton invited the fashion crowd to its brand new Foundation, an impressive building created by the architect Frank Gehry in the Bois de Boulogne. As a tribute to Vuitton's sponsorship to arts and to Gehry's spaceship-like creation, the show went artisanal. It’s only Nicolas Ghesquière second outing for the house and therefore an occasion to showcase what he’s got in his créative locker. That meant dresses ranging from skater to shift looks in orange and black stripped leather, lace and mesh styles. While velvet, usually a winter staple, was used for wide beige pants and flower-printed jackets, giving a Seventies feel to the collection.
