Musician and notorious over-sharer John Mayer announced that he might be quitting Twitter. “Within the last couple weeks, every night I think about cancelling my Twitter account ... I think it’s over, to be honest with you,” he said when he was the keynote speaker at the ASCAP Expo in L.A.
But it looks like when Twitter loses a singer, it gains a Venezuelan president. Hugo Chavez is going to join the social-networking site. “Comandante Chavez is going to open his Twitter account soon to wage the battle online,” announced Venezuela’s state-run communications agency. “I’m sure he’ll break records for numbers of followers,” said his publicist.
Oh, man. Joining Twitter after John Mayer declares it’s over? Hugo Chavez —tardy to the party yet again.
