The Word: McDonald’s new Mighty Wings can’t be anything but gross, right?

Mighty Wings Infographic The guide to McDonald’s new menu item, the Mighty Wings.

I’ve been wanting to write about McDonald’s new “Mighty Wings” ever since I first heard that this was happening and simultaneously threw up in my mouth a little bit, thinking about how disgusting on-the-bone wings from McDonald’s are going to be.

Alas, this revelation didn’t really seem to qualify as celebrity gossip-worthy news so, instead, I just sort of Googled it a lot and read what other people were writing about it, which led me down an Internet rabbit hole to blog posts about the KFC Double Down and the Burger King Bacon Sundae (full disclosure: I once ate one of those, for work. It was gross.) and before you knew it my entire afternoon was eaten up (ha) by disgusting fast food monstrosities.

This morning, however, I got an email from some publicist recounting some story from InTouch that reported that Cameron Diaz had treated her crew to a thousand-dollar feast while on the set of her new comedy, “The Other Woman.” From McDonald’s!

THERE’S YOUR TIE-IN, I yelled to myself (silently, in my head, I have coworkers) and got to work.

Except, that’s all I really had to say about the subject. Starting Sept. 9, for a limited time only, McDonald’s will be selling wings. And I’m pretty sure they’re going to be gross. (I’ll try them and report back.)
