Meet and Seat: Choose who's next to you on your next flight

If you could browse the Facebook and LinkedIn profiles of your fellow passengers and choose the perfect seatmate, would you do it?

We've all been there -- stuck on a flight in a seat next to someone who will not stop talking about something you couldn't be less interested in, when all you want to do is read your SkyMall and sip on your $6 Diet Coke.

Most airlines give you the ability to choose your seat on a flight, but let's face it, it's really just a game of Russian roulette. One carrier, though, is saving the day by introducing an ingenious concept, called "meet and seat," that will allow you to choose your seatmate based on common interests.

According to Tnooz.com, next year KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will give travelers the option of linking their Facebook or LinkedIn profiles to their check-in information. From there, passengers can browse other profiles and choose a seatmate based on similar interests. Sounds like a great idea, right?
But Tnooz.com raises an interesting question:

Of course, passengers don’t have to link up their profiles if they’re not interested but what if they play along and end up with someone who just wants to make a sales pitch.

You have to wonder how many people will be willing to take that chance.

It's a good point and one that makes you wonder whether it's best to just leave a little mystery in the air. Would you rather choose your seatmate or leave it up to chance?
