Pizza Hut puts a hot dog in their pizza crust

Not since Domino’s novel creation of the Bread Bowl Pasta have we seen a pizza chain innovate a food that could be any worse, nutritionally speaking, than the product they already peddle, but Pizza Hut is a mold-breaker, which is how they came to invent the pizza that has a hot dog in the crust.

First of all, don’t slam it if you haven’t tried it. If you ask us, this is a great idea that just needs a little tweaking. Though only available in the U.K. at the moment – and according to one source, there are no plans to bring it to the U.S. – this hot dog concoction comes accompanied with a mustard “drizzle.” It introduces a whole new flavor palate to the regular cheese-sauce-bread profile we’re used to.

ABC News reports that this isn’t the first time such a concoction was available. It was in Thailand and Japan years ago, boasting a calorie content of 265 calories per serving of plain cheese pizza with 11.6 grams of fat.

Americans would totally be down with this. In fact, last year, Pizza Hut offered a crust stuffed with pepperoni, sausage AND bacon AND cheese. See? They save the best stuff for us. So don’t be jealous. But maybe, get on the treadmill right now.

Also, let’s not ignore the larger trend of super-mutant junk foods that was apparent last year when Taco Bell introduced the Dorito Taco. The same company recently leaked plans to do a Cool Ranch Taco as well. We all lost our chance at the mega-millions, so maybe it’s time to innovate the next super-mutant junk food. Personally, we’d like to see one of those Starbucks cake pops atop a Double Down, like the toothpick keeping a deli sandwich together. Just sayin’.
