Online dating can get tiresome, but there’s a new app on the scene that promises to add a little extra spice to your sex life, called — appropriately — KinkD.
Calling itself the “Tinder for fetish enthusiasts,” KinkD isn’t just a hook-up app — though app co-founder John Martinuk says if that’s what you’re looking for, “more power to you.” It’s about building a community platform to connect members of fringe fetish lifestyles, and for luring in the faint of fetish.
“Our vision is two-fold: We’re helping continue to expand the kink community and connect people who are into it,” he said.

That means seasoned fetish enthusiasts and voyeurs of afar alike.
Though kink and fetishes have infiltrated the mainstream conscious — we’re looking at you, “50 Shades of Gray” — Martinuk said he and two friends realized the need for such an app from their own experiences traversing the dating scene.
“Being someone who is single, I find there are a lot of taboo subjects that people just don’t want to broach when they either meet or start dating — politics, religion and sex preferences. In a lot of those cases, trying to explain to somebody I’m kind of into bondage, it can freak them out,” Martinuk said.
With KinkD, would-be couples can feel free to be free with their fetishes, he said.
KinkD launched publicly two months ago and so far the app has amassed 30,000 users worldwide.
The most common kink? Sub and dom roles — that stands for “submissive” and “dominant” for you “vanillas,” as Martinuk calls the people outside the kink world.
After downloading the app, users select their kinky preferences, which helps connect them to other kinksters they might jive with.
Sub and dom roles account for 83 percent of users, but there’s plenty of room to play around, Martinuk said.
KinkD is focused on creating a safe and private community for kinky people, using a photo verification feature where users can submit their IDs to verify their profile photos.
If users aren’t quite ready to meet others, private albums allow users to upload photos they aren’t comfortable showing publicly, those albums can be shared with trusted users for enjoyment from behind a screen.
KinkD is now available globally on Google Play and Appstore.
