Want an iPod Classic? Got $1,000?

Prices soar for the discontinued mp3 player after Apple kills it off

Fans of the iPod Classic were apparently being serious when they expressed their anger and surprise when it was discovered that Apple had sneakily discontinued the popular mp3 player in the wake of the iPhone 6 and Apple Watch announcements. Almost immediately, the item was removed from the company's online store. And those fans are now willing to shell out quite a bit for the dedicated music player.

The 160-gigabyte capacity iPod Classics are now selling for as much as£670 (or about $1000) in the U.K., according to the Guardian, whilein the U.S. they're topping out on Amazon at the seemingly much more reasonable $490. But that's still a lot more than the $249 the Classic went for before being killed off. Oh, and if you've got an old iPod Classic kicking around and want to cash in, even used ones are going for up to $500 on eBay. But if this is any indication, that price will only go up, so list carefully.
