Soda, for breakfast? Taco Bell to serve ‘Mountain Dew A.M.’

Health nuts like Jamie Oliver and First Lady Michelle Obama must be rolling their eyes right about now: Taco Bell just unveiled a new breakfast drink that gives us a sugar high just thinking about it.

The new morning concoction, made to start your day off on the right foot, consists of Mountain Dew and orange juice. They’re calling it “Mountain Dew A.M.”

Taco Bell is still testing out the breakfast drink at certain locations in Fresno and Southern California, but the fast food chain told Fox News they are happy with the drink so far.

“We’re pleased with the initial reaction from our customers, and if it does well, we’ll roll it out to all our restaurants that serve breakfast,” Taco Bell spokesmanRob Poetsch told Fox News.

Taco Bell first started serving breakfast approximately six months ago. Items on the menu include sausage or bacon egg burritos, hash browns, steak and egg burrito, and a grande skillet burrito. Don’t worry, though: They look suspiciously similar to every other food Taco Bell produces:

If you’re itching to try the new breakfast items, be sure to wake up early. The chain will only offer them through 11 a.m..

Be careful, though. If you’re going to indulge in a “Mountain Dew A.M.” you might want to think about not eating for the rest of the day. Orange juice packs about 20 grams of sugar per cup while Mountain Dew has 31 grams of sugar.

Or you know, you can stick to the tried and true coffee or tea. Just a suggestion from your friends at Metro.
