It might be Tom Brady's idea of home comforts, but a super automated toilet that costs more than $4,000 might be a bit much for the average household. One such superloo is among many features on display at the 2012 South Shore Living Idea Home in Carver, this weekend.
Set in Kingsbury Hollow, among woodland and cranberry bogs on conservation land, the Idea Home pairs a quiet rural lifestyle with hi-tech, low-maintenance living.
"It's fun to learn about all these hi-tech amenities," says Beth Patkoske, project coordinator for the Davenport Building Company, the developers of the project. "It's so beautiful, set above cranberry bogs. I was there last week when they were harvesting."

The Idea Home is about taking the sting out of everyday life via comfort-adding, energy-saving gadgets -- like a Control4 home automation system that allows for remote lighting, temperature and even TV adjustment from computers, tablets or smartphones. There's also The Nest "learning" thermostat, which measures temperature, humidity, light and activity while adjusting to homeowners' routines.
Eco-saving features includes IceStone Kitchen countertops made from recycled glass and concrete and an induction stove top that boils water faster than gas but remains cool to the touch. Perhaps the best feature is the hidden "bookcase" door in the living room that leads to a secret den.
"I think I've read too many Nancy Drew mysteries," jokes Patkoske. "It's basically a door with a bookcase built on one side." It's both an ingenious use of space and more tasteful to show off than that toilet!
