The beauty of sleep: New Estee Lauder study

A new study by Estee Lauder proves a lack of sleep increases signs of aging.

Wonder why you’re seeing lines on your face at 27 — or why those sunspots take forever to disappear? It might be time to skip a party or two and get a full night’s sleep.

The saying “get your beauty rest” has never rang truer than now, thanks to a new study commissioned by Estee Lauder. The beauty giant teamed up with scientists at University Hospitals Case Medical Center to examine the skin conditions of 60 poor sleepers.
The findings: For the first time ever, a study reveals that a lack of sleep causes skin to age faster.

“Our study is the first to conclusively demonstrate that inadequate sleep is correlated with reduced skin health. Sleep-deprived women show signs of premature skin aging and a decrease in their skin’s ability to recover after sun exposure,” says Dr. Elma Baron, director of the Skin Study Center at UH Case Medical Center.

With this newfound knowledge, Estee Lauder went back into the lab. This month they launched their new Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II, a potent serum that boosts Catabolysis, the skin’s natural nighttime cellular repair process, or the reason you wake up with fresh and healthy-looking skin in the mornings.

Make it part of your nightly ritual — in addition to eight hours of beauty sleep, of course.
