Of all the many amenities that The Moorings in Hingham harbor boasts, none are quite as cool as the fact that the MBTA water shuttle is on site, just steps from your frony door. There’s also the Greenbush Commuter Rail line, but who wouldn’t choose a half hour cruise in to Boston?
Not that people who live in Hingham are itching to leave their picturesque South Shore town, which is increasingly attracting new residents to developments like The Moorings. Situated by the water, this condominium had sold almost all their homes at press time, but phase two, which will encompass slightly lower priced homes from $400,000-$800,000, will soon begin. Phase one’s price tags ran from just under $500,000 to almost $1.5 million, but that building boasts covered garage parking to take residents straight into the lobby and straight to their door. That’s something that will come in handy as the winter weather sets in.
Phase two should be on the market by the end of this year, at which point construction will commence, giving a projected move-in date in early 2015. Phase three, the final building, will begin shortly after that. Each building is consistent in its luxury-level interiors, but it’s really the location, those harbor views, that is the biggest draw.
“Living by the water is all about the sea views,” says sales director Erin DeGenova. “That’s what home buyers are looking for. The Moorings is unique, because it’s a brand new construction right on the water. We are attracting an interesting mix of people from single professionals to empty nesters in their 50s. But they all want the same thing: the views over the harbor.”
