Are you looking for love, but wish the world of online dating was a bit less superficial? The new app Willow turns the concept of a traditional dating app on its head - by emphasizing a user’s personality over their profile photos.

“Our philosophy is simple,” reads the description on the app’s website. “We believe the best way to get to know someone, and find out whether or not you like them, is by talking to them!”

Here’s how it works: Instead having a potential match’s photos be the first thing a user sees when checking out a profile, Willow asks users a series of questions right off of the bat. Founder Michael Bruch told Elle magazine that he hope that the app will spark meaningful connections between its users.

Starting a conversation is easy. Users just have to swipe through a series of questions other members have posted.

"What I realized was missing from a dating app, or an app that is meant to be social, was an actual conversational aspect," the 23-year-old Bruch told the magazine. "I wanted to create an app that got people talking."
