When Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler announced they were leaving “American Idol” last week, both stars cited their busy, rewarding lives. How could they continue to judge a reality show when they had babies to take care of and devoted fans to entertain?
But there might be a much easier explanation here: money.
According to TheWrap.com, Lopez was actually let go when she asked for a $2 million raise and Fox “surprised her” by declining to make a counteroffer. During an appearance on Monday’s “Good Morning America,” the singer hinted that it wasn’t exactly a tidy break. “I love them, they love me, and it’s hard when I feel like I should move on,” she said of the split. “I don’t know, I don’t know if it’s even done yet. … I know that I’m moving on.”
As for Tyler — who, like Lopez, spent two seasons on the show — the network decided not to renew his contract as it looks to revamp the struggling show’s format, a source tells TheWrap.
Sure it’s embarrassing, but don’t sweat it, guys. Most of us get fired over far less money and have never known the joy of giving Ryan Seacrest an exit wedgie.
Because puppies fix everything
Over the weekend, Katie Holmes was spotted doing what every good divorced parent does: Shopping for a puppy.
Holmes and daughter Suri Cruise stopped by an upscale Manhattan pet store, according to RadarOnline, and were looking at a French bulldog and a tiny designer Yorkie/Maltese mix dubbed a “Morkie.”
They left without purchasing a dog, and now North Shore Animal League rescue is encouraging the family to adopt. “Unfortunately most pet stores are provided their dogs from commercial breeding organizations otherwise known as puppy mills,” spokeswoman Devera Lynn tells Radar. “We would love to show Katie the animals we have if she is ready to adopt.”
Katie, you of all people must be sick of yappy little over-groomed critters. Give pound pups a chance!
Another Lohan on the way
We always forget this, but the Lohans are humans and can, as such, pull a sneak attack and reproduce. Lindsay‘s father, Michael Lohan, is expecting a baby with sometimes girlfriend and occasional fiance Kate Major, a rep confirmed to TMZ. Conveniently, Lohan’s restraining order against Major, who has accused him of domestic violence, was recently lifted.
