The names of dating sites like Match, OKCupid and Plenty of Fish are instantly recognizable to both daters and non-daters alike. This site bills itself as a “safe, friendly and easy-to-use site where geeks and their admirers can find each other.” Looking for the gamer or comic book fan of your dreams? This might be the site for you.
Nine years ago, public relations executive Jerry Miller began Farmers Only — a site whose goal is to help “farmers and ranchers to meet like-minded people.” On the site’s official blog, Miller says that he came up with the idea after meeting a recently divorced farmer who was talking with him about her struggles to find a compatible date. Interested? Take note that users (quite naturally) are almost all from the rural United States and Canada.
No Longer Lonely
Living with a mental illness can be an isolating experience. All of No Longer Lonely’s members have received a diagnosis of some form of mental illness, conditions that include schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. “For those with mental illness, the problem is compounded by fear of disclosure and stigma,” reads the site’s mission statement. No Longer Lonely hopes to help eliminate those fears for its users.
