This was the most diverse NYFW show we’ve seen

Lots of fashion designers pay lip service to showcasing different kinds of bodies and ethnicities on the runway, but Rachel Comey actually DID something about itWednesday night, with one of the most diverse shows we’ve ever seen.

According to Refinery29, the Brooklyn designer’s cast included 13 dancers, two yoga instructors, one drummer and only seven professional models. The women ranged from curly-haired ingenués to buzzed-cut silver foxesspanning a variety of body shapes and colors — the kinds of discerning, cool, laidback women who wear Comey’s clothes in real life. It wasn’t just a beautiful presentation; it was smart, too.

As for the clothes themselves, they were classically Comey in that comfy, eccentric Brooklyn-bohemian-art-teacher kind of way.Check them, and the amazing cast, out in the gallery above.
