It’s not too late to go to church. At least, it’s not too late to take a look-see around this stone church in Watertown that was built in 1899. It was converted into condominiums two years ago and has slowly rolled out finished apartments since. Totaling eight units in all, three are sold. Of the five remaining, number four is finished and for sale. The other unfinished units are currently available for customized finishes.
“It’s a wonderful, old building and a great development that kept lots of the original windows and doors,” says listing agent Mary Kelleher. “It’s one of the most thoughtful developments we’ve worked with.”
Named Mount Auburn Village, the church sits between Watertown Square and the Cambridge line.
It’s on the bus route into Harvard Square to catch the T on the Red Line, and an express bus runs from the square, whizzing you into the Back Bay in 15 minutes. Plus, the Mass Pike is just minutes away.
Watertown is quiet but hosts some great diners, like the Deluxe Town Diner. Restaurants include the vegetarian Red Lentil and Italian favorite Porcini’s. It’s home to the Armenian Heritage Museum, too.

Best of all, it keeps the church’s original arched windows and big wooden door.
“The new fixtures and cabinetry are first class,” says Kelleher. “But you can’t replicate the original craftsmanship and that has been incorporated into the design. You just don’t get that anywhere today.”
