A seller who posted a $10,000 ring on the popular internet site Craigslist agreed to meet with a buyer on Sunday night, only to be robbed of the jewelry.
The seller met the supposed buyer in the parking lot of a Friendly's restaurant near the Massachusetts Turnpike in Westfield.
Police Capt. Michael McCabe told the Springfield Republican that when the two met, the suspect examined the ring and then handed over a black box that he said contained an agreed-upon amount of cash. However, the suspect then pulled out a handgun and stole the ring, McCabe said.
The suspect drove away in a small silver car on Springdale Road. No more is known about thief.
