Alec Baldwin was arrested Tuesday morning after biking the wrong way down a Manhattan street and arguing with cops who tried to ticket him, according to police and In Touch Weekly.

Police said the 56-year-old actor was arrested around 10:15 a.m. after officers spotted him riding against traffic in a bike lane between 15th and 16th streets on Fifth Avenue.

The officers did not know who Baldwin was when they stopped to issue him a summons, police said.

After Baldwin was asked to show identification by the police, he was “belligerent” and argued with the officers, a law enforcement official said. A witness told In Touch that the “30 Rock” star “went ballistic on the cops, screaming at them” during the altercation.

Because he wasn’t carrying identification, Baldwin wastaken into custody at the 13th precinct and given a desk appearance ticket, police said. He was cited for riding his bike against traffic and disorderly conduct.

The arrest came during a citywide push Tuesday by the NYPD to crack down on traffic infractions, particularly against drivers using cellphones and those who fail to yield to pedestrians.

Baldwin later tweeted about the arrest:

Once a supporter of Mayor Bill de Blasio, Baldwin wrote a lengthy essay forNew York Magazinein February as a “goodbye to public life” and musing about leaving the city.

“I probably have to move out of New York,” Baldwin wrote. “I just can’t live in New York anymore.”
