A man arrested for rigging a hidden camera inside a women’s restroom of an Arlington cafe is expected to be arraigned Monday.

On Saturday police arrested Joseph B. Hennessy, 53, of Salem, New Hampshire, and charged him with with disturbing the peace and photographing an unsuspecting nude person.

Police say Hennessy set up a camera inside the bathroom of the Kickstand Cafe, located at 594 Mass Ave around 8 a.m. Saturday. Police believe Hennessy was streaming video from the camera to a device “he was using inside the common area of the restaurant.”

Police seized the electronics that was allegedly used in the illicit surveillance and have plans to talk to New Hampshire authorities about Hennessy.

Police believe Hennessy may have frequented other establishments in the area.

“This is a deeply troubling case, and I commend the victim for coming forward and helping us take this offender off the streets of our community,” said Arlington Police Chief Frederick Ryan.
