Arkel Garcia, who allegedly killed a mentally disabled man in Overbrook for his Beats headphones, was held for trial on murder charges after a preliminary hearing at the Philadelphia Criminal Justice Center this morning, the Inquirer reported.
Garcia, 20, allegedly shot Christian Massey, 21, to death on Nov. 30 around 5:30 p.m. near 58th and Lebanon streets.
Garcia allegedly tried to pin the homicide on two friends who were with him and who accosted Massey to take his headphones, then killed him when he fought back.
However, surveillance footage from the scene reportedly shows only one person approaching Massey before the fatal shooting, according to prosecutors.
The shooter didn't take Massey's headphones after fatally wounding him.
At his funeral Massey was remembered as a 'big brother' by friends and family.
Massey died during a violent weekend in Philadelphia during which five other men were also killed.
