A pair of would-be robbers will likely face a judge tomorrow after one of them became the victim during their failed armed robbery attempt.

Justin Forde, 25, of Mattapan, and James Michael, 27, of Roxbury, allegedly grabbed the victim near a South Boston restaurant late Saturday night. They began to take money from the victim's pockets while armed with a handgun and stun gun, police said.

The victim's brother told police he witnessed the robbery from the window of his nearby office.

Fearing for his brother's life, the man fired "several shots" at Forde and Michael and hit Michael in the hand. The pair then fled.

Police issued a description of the vehicle the pair fled in and their car was seen by an off-duty State Police trooper who pulled them over.

The trooper saw Michael bleeding heavily from his hand and a gun on the car floor.

The men were arrested and Michael was treated for the gunshot wound to his hand.

Both men were charged with armed robbery.
