An East Boston woman was arrested at 9 a.m. this morning for allegedly driving while drunk after she drove into an unmarked state police cruiser and then backed into another car on Route 93 northbound, near the Freeport Street exit in Dorchester.
Maura Bertolino, 30, was charged with driving under the influence of liquor, driving to endanger, following too close and wrong-way operation – backing up on the highway – and was expected to be taken to the hospital for her “extreme level of intoxication,” police said.
A preliminary investigation shows that Bertolino was driving her Toyota Camry in the center lane, moved to the right lane, then came back to the center lane, where she sped up and rear-ended the cruiser. After striking the police car, she reportedly put it in reverse and backed into the car behind her.
There were no injuries.
