Alvah Kittredge House in Roxbury to get restoration

Today Boston Mayor Thomas Menino is expected to celebrate the groundbreaking on the restoration of the historic Alvah Kittredge House in Roxbury, which has been vacant and deteriorating for the last 20 years.

Today Boston Mayor Thomas Menino is expected to celebrate the groundbreaking on the restoration of the historic Alvah Kittredge House in Roxbury, which has been vacant and deteriorating for the last 20 years.

The restored house will feature 5 two-bedroom units, including 2 affordable units.

Boston has been a longtime advocate for preservation of this Roxbury landmark, committing $500,000 for affordable housing creation on the property, according to a city spokesman.
