Officials are investigating after a man was struck and killed by a northbound Amtrak train as it passed through Mansfield Wednesday night.
MBTA Transit Police said the victim, who was presumed to be in his 30s, was struck around 10:42 p.m. near the School Street bridge in Mansfield. The Amtrak train departed from Norfolk, Va., and was headed to Boston's South Station, officials said.
Transit Police units responded along with Mansfield Police, Fire and EMS. Transit Police detectives along with the Bristol County District Attorney's Office are currently investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.
