A Selden woman will spend two years in jail for torturing and killing family pets as a means to terrorize her children.

A Selden woman will spend two years in jail for torturing and killing family pets as a means to terrorize her children.

Sharon McDonough, 44, pleaded guilty yesterday in Suffolk County Court to animal cruelty and child endangerment. She admitted to strangling a Maltese dog to death in front of her 10-year-old daughter as well as slamming a cat named Cinderella against a wall. She then covered its mouth with duct tape and hung the pet from a bunk bed ladder until it died.

In another gruesome incident, she wrapped duct tape around the snout of a shepherd-mix dog.

The animal torturer also deprived three other pet pooches of food and water. She forced her children, all under 17 years old, to urinate in garbage buckets and bathe themselves using baby wipes.

McDonough’s children were removed from her home in November 2009 by child protective services.
