Anthony Weiner moving to the West Village

Who needs boring old Forest Hills, Queens when you can live in the West Village?

That must be the thinking of Anthony Weiner, at least.

The disgraced Congressman was seen moving out of his two-bedroom Forest
Hills co-op yesterday. He will now be renting a swanky three-bedroom
apartment on a high-rent West Village street, according to the New York
Post. It’s unknown if his pregnant wife, Huma Abedin, will be living
with him there.

Yes, Weiner couldn’t get out of Queens fast enough now that he’s no
longer employed by the residents there — residents who sent him to
Congress six times as their representative.

But Weiner did stick around long enough to vote for Democrat David
Weprin to replace him in what is expected to be an extremely close
special election today against Republican Bob Turner. Some are saying
that should Turner win the traditionally Democratic district, it would
be a referendum on President Barack Obama.

Asked whether it was his fault if the Republicans gain a seat out of
the scandal, Weiner said, “If you made a list of 10 fervent defenders of
Democratic ideals, I would be on it.”

Speaker of the House of
Representatives John Boehner, the top Republican, said given the area’s
rich Democratic history and tilt, “This is not a district that we have
any right to believe we can win.”

“But we do have a good candidate,” Boehner told reporters. “Hope springs eternal.”
