Two men beat and robbed two Chinese take-out shop owners in West Philadelphia early Monday morning.

The armed robbery happened about 1 a.m. at Hualai Chinese Restaurant at 5148 W. Walnut St., NBC10 reports. The husband and wife were beaten inside their restaurant, and the wife reportedly was pistol-whipped by one of the suspects.

The armed suspect scoped out the inside of the restaurant as the other waited outside as a lookout. When the male owner returned to the restaurant from a delivery and opened an enclosed area, the armed suspect repeatedly punched him in the face before pistol-whipping the female victim.

The robbers fled the store with about $500, according to the report.

The victims were treated at the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania.
