Arthur Roldan, NYPD officer, accused of rape

A New York City police officer was arrested yesterday on rape charges.

Police reported last night that Arthur Roldan, 28, was arrested yesterday and charged with rape, menacing and assault.

The Staten Island District Attorney’s office confirmed to Metro that Roldan is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon.

According to the Daily News, Roldan is accused of raping a woman he once dated at gunpoint in a Staten Island parking lot.

He was off duty at the time, according to the newspaper.

He reportedly attacked the woman Tuesday night near Father Capodanno Boulevard, the New York Post reported.

His mother told the Daily News he is innocent.

“This is not in his character, he is a police officer,” his aunt added in an interview with the newspaper.

He reportedly works in a Park Slope precinct.

In a separate case earlier this year, another police officer, Michael Pena, pleaded guilty to raping a teacher he encountered as she was on her way to work.
