Police are looking for an ATV driver they said assaulted a man trying to prevent him from entering a park near the Conference House Museum in Staten Island.

Police are looking for an ATV driver they said assaulted a man trying to prevent him from entering a park across from the Conference House Museum in Staten Island on Sunday afternoon.

After the 62-year-old man tried to stop the driver from entering the park around 3:20 p.m., the driver jumped off his ATV and struck the victim multiple times in the head and torso, police said.

The suspect and other ATV drivers then fled the park.

The victim was taken to Staten Island University North Hospital and treated for broken ribs and swelling, as well as lacerations to his face, police said.

Police describe the suspect as a white male in his twenties.A witness snapped a picture of the suspect before he sped off.

The Conference House Museum was the site of an attempted peace treaty to end the Revolutionary War in 1776, attended by John Adams and Benjamin Franklin.
