The 6-year-old Merrimac girl who gained national attention for her special visit and kiss with music superstar Justin Bieber died this morning.
Avalanna Routh died this morning, according to a post by her family on her Twitter account.
“Our darling Avalanna went to Heaven this morning. Oh Avalanna, the brightest star – you took our hearts with you, our greatest Love” read the post this morning from @avalanna, which had more than 145,000 followers.
Bieber, on Twitter, asked his more than 28 million followers to pray for her and her family.
“just got the worst news ever. one of the greatest spirits i have ever known is gone. please pray for her family and for her,” Bieber tweeted this afternoon. “RIP Avalanna. i love you.”
Routh, who was diagnosed with rare brain cancer at 9-months-old, made national news when she met Bieber in February and got to plant a kiss on the singer’s cheek. The teen superstar made a special visit to her when he learned of her love for him. He also invited her up on stage at a concert earlier this year.
Routh was able to meet with Bieber on multiple occasions because of a Twitter and Facebook campaign.
