Back Bay car crash kills pedestrians, Brookline couple

A young couple from Brookline walking along a Back Bay street were killed Saturday night when a car crash occurred near where they were standing, sending of the cars toward them.

Boston police said on Sunday that 28-year-oldJohn “Jack” Lanzillotti and 27-year-old Jessica Campbell, both of Brookline, were killed in the crash.

Officers were called to the intersection of Beacon and Fairfield streets just before 9:15 p.m. for a report of a car crash. When officers arrived they found that one car collided with another car at the intersection. One of the cars rolled over and struck Lanzillotti and Campbell. The two were pedestrians and police did not say exactly where they were standing at the time of the crash.

Lanzillotti died at the scene and Campbell was rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she later died.

Two people in one of the cars were also injured and taken to the hospital.

As of Sunday morning police were still investigating and did not release information about potential charges or more details about what happened.
