Back Bay power out again (UPDATED)

Power went out in the Back Bay neighborhood, giving many residents and office workers a bad case of deja vu.

The first reports of power outages came in about noon and about 45 minutes later power started to return to some buildings and traffic lights.

It is not yet clear how many homes and businesses are impacted, but reports from emergency calls and Twitter indicated the Prudential tower was without power.

The MBTA reported no service interruptions in the area.

Boston police urged people driving or walking in the area to use caution as traffic lights are out. Officers are being sent to the area to direct traffic.

According to the Boston Public Library’s Twitter feed, the Central Branch in Copley Square is without power.

Today’s power outage comes about two months after a massive transformer fire caused an outage for days in the neighborhood for thousands of power customers.
