Police and protesters clashed in Lower Manhattan today -- but no, it wasn't part of the Occupy Wall Street movement.
It was part of an action scene being filmed for "The Dark Knight Rises," the third Batman movie set to be released next summer, which filmed Saturday and Sunday in Lower Manhattan.
The movie filmed it's main action scenes at the corner of Wall and Williams streets. As part of the flick, Gotham City cops clashed with protesters on the street. Smoke and fake snow filled the air, as the movie is set in the winter. Fake gunfire could be heard ringing through the streets on Saturday.
There are more than 1,000 extra "protesters" for the film milling about Lower Manhattan today.
Bale, who is resuming his role as Batman, was reportedly on set Saturday.
The movie also stars Anne Hathaway and Joseph Gordon—Levitt. In addition to New York, it has filmed in Pittsburgh and Newark. The film will be shooting in
Gotham City New York for another two weeks.
