A new survey claims that the United States is in the midst of a bed bug infestation. According to the National Pest Management Association, 95 percent of U.S. survey participants reported an encounter with the nefarious pests in the past year.

Even more disturbing is the fact that these notoriously tenacious nocturnal bloodsuckers don’t seem to be confined to the bedroom. “In the U.S., bed bugs are infesting homes, apartments, hotels, retail stores, offices, places of worship, college dorms, hospitals, day cares, libraries, modes of transportation, movie theaters, laundry facilities and other places where humans live and gather,” the NPMA report states.
