Bensalem police bust ‘Cash for Gold’ burglary ring

Bensalem Township Police yesterday made the last arrest in an alleged Bucks County burglary ring that they say began operating early last year.

Anthony Fanaro, 32, of Levittown, is charged with 26 counts of burglary, theft and related offenses following a yearlong investigation by detectives from multiple townships.

Police said members of the burglary ring would break into unoccupied homes and steal gold jewelry, then sell them at “Cash for Gold” stores in and around Philadelphia.

“This burglary ring was mostly comprised of heroin addicts who were fueling their addictions with the proceeds from the burglaries,” police said. “Today’s arrest of Fanaro and the previous arrest of his co-conspirators resulted in the closure of over 40 burglaries in Bucks County.”

Fanaro was arraigned and his bail was set at 10 percent of $1 million.
