Berklee College launches master’s program in Spain

Berklee College of Music is launching its first graduate programs with a new campus in Valencia, Spain.

“This event marks the successful culmination of an ambitious and challenging project, and confirms the commitment the college made to launch a new international campus with its own curriculum,” said Berklee Spokeswoman Margot Edwards.

The program includes more than 70 master’s students, from 22 countries, Edwards said. They are mostly music teachers, industry professionals and recent college graduates.

According to Edwards, the intensive one-year program, lets students pursue advanced studies designed to prepare them to meet the challenges of an ever-changing music industry.

The graduate program offers degrees in Contemporary Studio Performance; Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games; and Global Entertainment and Music Business.

In addition to the master’s programs, Berklee in Valencia offers a Global Studies Program for Boston’s Berklee students to study in Valencia; summer and special programs offering access to visiting artists; The Mediterranean Music Institute for the study of the evolution and proliferation of musical genres associated with the Mediterranean region; and an International Career Center.
