Memorial Day in Beverly is a little different this year.
The city’s veteran services agent said the North Shore community’s parade was canceled this year because of the difficulty older veterans had participating in the annual event, according to the Beverly Citizen. Instead, an honor ceremony was held in observance of the day.
“This year will not be a parade as we usually have,” Veterans Agent Jerry Guilebbe told the Beverly Citizen.
The news of the canceled parade angered some veterans who told WBZ that it sends the wrong message to current military members.
