The MBTA is using video cameras to combat phony lawsuits from riders faking injuries during bus accidents.

The Herald reported that 1,900 bus accident-related bodily injury claims were filed in 2009 compared to 1,638 in 2007. The T’s payouts for those claims jumped from $2 million to $2.9 million during that span.
