Police are attempting to identify a body found in the trunk of a burned car in Northeast Philadelphia Thursday morning.

The car, described by police spokeswoman Officer Jill Russell as a Lexus, was parked on the 2300 block of Woodward Street, near the entrance to Pennypack Park.

Investigators were called to the scene upon the discovery of the body about 7:15 a.m.

Due to the body’s condition, police have been unable to determine the sex, age or race of the victim to this point.
