Body pulled from harbor

Authorities are trying to identify a body pulled from Boston Harbor yesterday morning.

Witnesses reported seeing the body floating near Rowes Wharf about 9:30 a.m., fire officials said.

By the time rescue boats arrived, the current had taken the body from the Northern Avenue Bridge in to Fort Point Channel.

The body was eventually recovered by the Congress Street Bridge.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death and the identity.

“It had been in the water for a long time,” said Steve MacDonald, a fire depart- ment spokesman.
