Boston is one of the first cities in the nation to participate in the comprehensive climate adaptation program for local governments.
The program entitles the city to receive cutting-edge online tools, technical support and other resources that will help accelerate its efforts to prepare for climate change.
In April, Mayor Thomas Menino recommended the city begin focusing on the risks from sea-level rise, severe storms and heat waves.
