Boston traffic was ranked the 13th worst out of 53 U.S. metropolitan areas, according to a recent TomTom Traffic Index .
Boston's average congestion level was 21 percent, with a 26-minute delay per hour driven during a peak period, according to the report, which is recognized as the world’s most accurate barometer of traffic congestion in 186 cities across six continents.
Boston had a delay of 69 hours per year, assuming a 30-minute commute. The most congested day of 2013 was Dec. 17.
The best weekly commutes take place on Friday mornings and Monday evenings, and the worst weekly commutes happens on Wednesday mornings and Thursday evenings.

Los Angeles, San Francisco and Honolulu topped the list for the most traffic congested cities.
