MBTA Transit Police bust fare evader, find warrants out for his arrest

MBTA Transit Police officers on patrol at the Tufts New England Medical Center subway stop snagged a man for piggybacking behind a paying customer, only to find out there were multiple warrants out for his arrest.

Giovanny Perdomo, 35, of Jamaica Plain, attempted to evade paying the fare by sneaking in behind another rider. When officers approached him to give him a citation for piggybacking, they discovered there were several warrants out for Perdomo’s arrest.

Perdomo was wanted by Boston Municipal Court for charges including possession of a Class A substance, Roxbury District Court for possession of a Class A substance, Quincy District Court for possession of a Class A substance, Brighton District Court for shoplifting over $100 and Chelsea District Court for driving without a license.

Perdomo was placed into police custody and transferred to Transit Police headquarters for booking. He was also issued a citation for fare evasion.
