Police in Wilmington, Del., have charged a 12-year-old boy with shooting a teen during a Sept. 20 robbery.

The robbery and shooting happened on the 600 block of North Van Buren Street. The 17-year-old victim was shot in his left leg during a struggle for control of his cell phone, which the 12-year-old boy allegedly stole before fleeing the scene.

Police announced Thursday night's arrest of the 12-year-old boy in a press release, DelawareOnline.com reports.

The 12-year-old boy is already on probation for a prior robbery, police said. He is charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in connection with the Sept. 20 crime.

The boy is being held in New Castle County Detention Center on $150,000 bail.
